Anymore, I rather have the port in front instead of in the rear. Ya know, that design is from 20 years ago, and actually I have no wall I rather rely on so give me the bass full blast with the port in the front.
More and more I am at least seeing some speakers made that way, because I know how that port in the back sounds, and although the attack comes out the front on the bass and low frequencies, the port in the back just won't work that well in my place and case (hard head or not).

I don't want thumping attack out the low frequencies either, so the ones I have work, but if I had a choice, I still use a bass and treble control with the speakers also. Yes, once again, they just don't make what I want that much, something in-between I guess. Oh, I don't know, maybe a system with an equalizer like some of them are, but then they cost more, and that is another problem for me.

Also if  you download the wave file on each speaker on that Sonic website soundcloud link then I think the JBL 308's will be better. But since I have an older model already like those (JBLs) but still different in the cone of the speaker, that may make a difference also with listening to the different speakers compared to the source wave file download.

rear firing ports always sound like a$$ :)

hey.. I see what I did there...

lol, actually rear firing ports just require careful placement and potential treatment relative to front firing.. The ONLY reason rear firing ports exist is to allow the use of smaller cabinets.. so in essence the manufacturer trades his reduced manufacturing costs for your integration issues :)

Just a reminder, this is (I suspect) the LAST DAY to take advantage of Equator's Memorial Weekend sale on their highly acclaimed D5 monitors http://www.equatoraudio.c...udio-Monitors-p/d5.htm
