Sometimes I feel as though we're the last of a dying species, about to be replaced by a new superhuman race of beings who, with any luck, will keep us around for sentimental reasons. As you watch this video, keep reminding yourself that this kid is 8 years old...

I've seen 20 year old NON players, practice like a bear for 10 hours a day, to be very good after two short years.  This *kind of* falls in that category, except the finger reach on a full size guitar is fairly insane for her small hands...not to mention she's 8, like you said.

Amazing. Reminds me of this kid from my home town of Newcastle in the late 80's/early 90's. I think his name was Thomas McRocklin. He was maybe 9 or 10 and could shred like a pro. I seem to remember him having one of those signature Steve Vai guitars with the handle on it, and in fact he may have even played with Steve Vai on stage at one point. He may have been featured on MTV or something at one time as well. But the thing about these child prodigies is that you don't often hear of them again. Maybe they shoot their wad too soon?

Or they become Nobel prize winners and keep music as a refreshing hobby :o/ Or they simply join the long line of excellent pro musicians who make a living playing their instrument, but don't stand out from the mass.
After all, there are "Steve Vais" and similar all over the world, but some are just happy teaching in a local university and such. All do not want the life of a performing artist, all do not want to be famous.

Thanks, Bit. I enjoyed that immensely. That lead me to discover some other videos of young shredders that help me realize just how little I bring to the planet. This one is probably well known to all of you, but was new to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B4pZBmI_gU
