A wonderful place to clear your head. Bad place to run out of gas, though

. I remember one road trip when we passed Grand Junction on the way to Salt Lake. Gauges looked good, and we should make Green River easy.
About twenty miles West of Junction, the gas gauge drops to empty. WTF!. My wife casually mentions the gas gauge doesn't work( we were in her car, and I'm thinking this is a bloody fine time to find out about this.) As you well know, there is nothing out there. Well, we did make Green River, but the car was gasping, running on fumes.
Anyhow, I still love the area.
