  • EZ Drummer 2 midi groove marketing idea is really good... IMO

I am catching up on some of the EZD2 videos and noticed that when you are looking for the right groove for a song or track you can search all the ToonTrack midi files from their website, even those you don't "yet" own... what a great marketing idea. It helps us find the groove we want and helps TT to sell more midi packs. Genius!!
Correct me if I am wrong but they also say you can bring in any of your existing midi hits or grooves, I assume that includes "groove clips" and Acid Loops. I have quite a few Acid Loops that I've never gotten a lot of use out of but would like to and I really hope this means that I can search my loops drive and use some of them in EZ Drummer 2. I have the Mick Fleetwood set that has some good stuff that will be great if I can assign some one hits to drums/cymbals in one of the EZD2 kits or use some of the grooves. The video I am watching is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnQN3cX4Csc and the beard guy mentions it at about the 9 minute mark. In fact it is all in the same phrase about searching your HD for other midi and TT online midi packs.

Can I do that or am I misunderstanding? I know I should put this in the software forum and maybe I'll post the question part there too... but the marketing scheme is really good. Maybe IK should reach out to TT for some help with ST3... LOL. Sorry (not really), that was mean!

I haven't gotten that far with EZD2 yet, but from what others were saying on a thread in the Software forum, no EZD2 won't search third party clips/grooves.

And I agree with you about the great feature of searching the TT website for clips you don't own yet. And yes it's a great marketing tool too!! We all win!

Julien, I just watched the video (thanks for the link) and from what I see and understand from the video, it does appear that you can import you own midi beats into EZD2. What I am now wondering, is when you import them, does EZD2 tag them to use in the same search manner as it does TT own midi files?

Not at home now. Will see maybe tomorrow.

I will too on my music PC.

But I will install EZD2 on my home PC and take advantage of the search function/feature.

Best of both worlds.

Yeah I guess that could work, but it's bit counter intuative to the idea of doing it within the project and not losing the flow and it could get expensive as you'd probably have to buy a whole midi pack to get that one groove you actually want right now.
