What midi controller do you use and why. I'm thinking of getting the Akai MPK mini MK2 fer $100. What are your thoughts, comments, cussings, phone no.'s, and or credit card no.'s? Thank you fer your support!

Hey Bill, I've been looking at that Akai also. I have an M-Audio Keystation Pro but it sets off to the side and I have to slide my chair across to access it. The Akai would sit right in front of me. I have an Akai APC 40 and it has been trouble free for me but it was a joint venture between Akai and another DAW manufacturer so it is dedicated.

I was also looking at (IIRC) the Arturia with the same number of keys but twice the number of rotary knobs...In the end the USB connector was on the wrong side so I'm focused in on the Akai, was going to order it Monday but spaced out. Maybe this week.

Regards

Thanks for the input morgan. I like the Akai after comparing. I will wait a day or two before ordering just to make sure it's the best choice for the bucks.

Is it bullet proof?  You might want that option from what I'm hearing.

Things have calmed down here so I figure I might as well take advantage and poke me head out for a delivery for me DAW!

I too have a Keystation Pro 88, but the most useful MIDI controller I have is a little Alesis Q49, which replaced a M-Audio Keystation 49. The M-Audio was a bit better, but I needed something lighter that I could travel with.

It's small and fits on my desk's drawer, so I can easily access it and move it out of the way.

I've always used a Korg N5 and an Oxygen-8.  I've had others but had to sell 'em...  There have been a few controllers that I've had an interest in, but I'd want to actually play with them for a few hours try them at a store first.

I would guess that some keyboards do not have full midi implementation and others do. You may want to find out first about how the midi implementation is for the keyboard you are thinking of buying. See if there is a manual online that you can download and read the midi implementation in it.

I have a Roland midi guitar ( and a midi keyboard that I don't use) but curious...
Now that an audio ( guitar part ) track can be dragged to a midi track what are
you needing the midi controller for?

One of the very few times I've seen an answer that's a question
