Vintage Organs was the successor to B4.

It was too much trouble to update B4 as they wanted to change it fundamentally.

It was based on a detailled survey of B4 owner's preferences, and the sample-based emulation offers more sonic authenticity over the algorithmic sound generation of the B4 / B4 II.

I still use B4.

I don't get using samples to emulate what was, and still is, essentially a form of additive synthesis.

I can upgrade Kontakt for $49.50. That's getting low enough to warrant consideration, the previous best offer being $79.

I was looking to see if my Guitar Rig 4 I got from one Sonar or another would qualify me, but it doesn't. I guess you have to have actually spent money with Native Instruments to qualify...

The text says "upgrade for users of ... Guitar Rig 3 LE...Guitar Rig 4 LE". Says "users", not "purchasers". I'd interpret that as meaning as users of GR, even if it came bundled with something else, we should still qualify for the crossgrade price of $49.50.

I'm actually more interested in upgrading GR than Kontakt. Fifty bucks is half the price of Scuffham S-Gear,  which I've been eyeing for a long time.

I've forgotten what was new with GR5 over prior versions, but I still think its overall sound isn't quite as good as competitors like Scuffham or Amplitube.  Lots of cool effects, yes, but the amp sims generally aren't my favorites.  As always, YMMV.

That Supercharger GT comp is well worth a demo, which is easy to do with NI's downloadable products.  Big improvement over the (formerly) free version, IMHO.  I like it on drums particularly.  If you've got the free one, the $25 upgrade is a good deal.

Cheers,
Eddie

I agree, but I can't get it to work. If I open the little NI cloud it says my GR4 is registered, but when I go to the site it isn't listed and says I have no qualifying upgrades. If you guys figure it out...let me know.

Got it. Installed it on laptop to start with. Install took 8 hours! I would just rotate the 12 discs of content every time I woke up during the night and by morning it was done!

Funny.... that's about the same thing I did when installing Komplete.   Though I think I once made it through two discs between naps.

Well worth it though, there is just so much to choose from.

...and you'll be upgrading to Ultimate next time there's a sale on

But at least you won't have to put up with the disc install again. I did it with Komplete 8 and booooy what a stinker....I eventually upgraded to Ultimate in a summer sale and it was so freaking good to get that hard drive with all the content on, and just leave it running.....
