Thanks Bigcat. I realize now that the free player is not the same as the full version. Thanks for pointing that out. It does list to some extent on his website which will work with the free version and which ones will not.

P.S. Pop Rock Strings

(Requires the Free
Kontakt 4 Player version or the full version of Kontakt 4

I wish I had funds to take advantage of this incredible KH sale.  I have Pop Strings and Spotlight Strings and they are fantastic.  They are a real pleasure to have.

Ive got LASS and CineBrass core, but would be interested in hearing from anyone using concert brass re trombones as cinebrass doesnt have true legato troms. I thought the concert brass trumpets sounded a bit synthy. Im also tempted with solo strings just for the Romantic Violin

Doesn't Pop / Rock Strings run in Kontakt player?

Yes - so you do not need to buy Kontakt for Pop / Rock Strings. For $59 its an absolute steal. Morgage the cat!
But be aware that you need the full version of Kontakt to take advantage of the TVAC updates. These are improved NKI files with more advanced scripting that improve a lot on an already great product.

Spotlight strings is quite different, it mainly solo strings and small solo sections and the articulation are aimed at that as opposed to bigger sections and general purpose in Diamond. I don't have concert strings but pop and rock strings are smaller ensembles that sound quite different to Diamond.

Concert Strings 2 is basically "the same, but better." Same setup, just different samples, more advanced programming, and fully chromatic. I likes it a whole lot and it is what I use most of the time. Pop/Rock Strings is a cut down version of CS2. I don't know the precise details as I don't have it (no need if you own CS2) but it is derived from that sample set.

Spotlight Solo Strings is interesting. Basically 4 instruments, with 4 different soloists each recorded.  I've played with it a little and it isn't as much to my liking. Neat idea though. Certainly powerful programming and probably can do cool stuff if you fiddle with it more.

Solo Strings 1 and 2 are just the solo patches from Concert Strings 1 (part of Diamond) and 2 respectively. Just a cheaper pack if you only want solo instruments.

Something to note with the Diamond/CS2 strings is they have 4 sets of strings for each instrument: full, half, quarter, and solo. That is how many people are playing. So full is a full section, half is half the players and so on. You can switch back and forth in real time as needed (and it'll autoswitch for divisi, if you tell it to). It is a nifty feature.

I would've love to get the CS2 ( I already have the Diamond), but it requires me to upgrade to Kontakt 5..........just can't afford both......
