After a new C drive, installed all software again (versus a disk image) and everything went fairly smooth and quick.  Just a couple hours.  The REST of the evening, taking about twice as long, went for Toontrack and just a couple of expansion packs.  Plus, I didn't reload all the sound files with Superior, etc.  But the authorizations, updates and just sorting it all out was a chore....especially in comparision.  Sonar was done extremely quickly and all the PC modules...   But Toontrack....phew.  I suppose a TOTAL computer geek would just breeze thru it, but there were some items that I'm sure weren't totally normal.  Rejected reg codes, finding workarounds...  there was a good 1/2 dozen items that required above and beyond in my opinion.
If the software wasn't top notch sounding, I would have almost considered other options....not that I would spend more money!! :-)

Been a while since I've had to reinstall Superior, but I vaguely remember muttering under my breath once or twice.

As you say, it sounds glorious - like a real drum kit almost - actually better than some of the drum kits I've recorded... so it remains well worth the effort to me.

Want to really have fun? I happen to like the original DFH Superior kits, and reloaded them... once<G>!
 

Haha.  I bet no one here has reloaded Toontrack content more than me.  The one thing that I have learned concerning TT products is that, when installing their software and libraries, you read all the README and other text files that come with it as well as every 'pickin' paragraph of every screen presented to you and think about what it says before hitting the NEXT button.  I think the trickiest part is when you have the disks for the original first generation products in 32 bit and you have to do the updates and installations on software before the later improvements kick in.  And then add in installing VST, RTAS and AAX versions and getting them in the folders that you want. (Mainly the VST versions - 32 bit and 64 bit)  But if you do it right from the beginning, the paths are remembered unless you get a new computer or wipe your hard drive and install from scratch.

The new authorization process is much more easy than the old days when you had to type every code in manually. Now most times you can cut and paste the codes in.  We can all thank the software pirates for this sort of nonsense.  Before the replies come back, I know that this only keeps the most honest of honest people from pirating software so let's not beat that horse again.  But most developers do something to protect themselves.  Guys like Platinum Samples don't even bother with making new content for Superior any longer because as soon as the hacked versions appear on the Torrent sites, sales drop way off to the point it doesn't bring a big enough return to provide it.
 
So bottom line is, TT as well as other companies need to protect their product and they realize that it causes some headaches to the end users so they try (and continue to work on it) to make it as painless as they can.

thx Mod for chiming in.  I'm totally for software protection.  I was running into problems like "too many computers using this serial #, when my account clearly showed that to be not the case.  By trying to "register offline" in that specific instance, I was able to.  I did have to go thru all the updates, and sometimes they weren't the smoothest operations either, doing some twice, etc.
One other case was losing EZplayerPro and Toontrack Solo basically because it wouldn't show registered software, but I was left with the EZdrummer64 as a stand alone.  I basically only used those however, so I could quickly "jam along", without having an instance in a Sonar project instead.  Not sure what was going on there with those programs.  But no big loss either really.  What I gained with EZD2 and the new kits more than makes up, when  comparing apples to apples.
Yeah...dang those tech pirates.  I'd bet the cost of software would be cut in half as well, if they could be effectively eliminated.

I have the original install disks for all my product.
Are the current updates cumulative, or do I have to run each and every one?
Probably only going to install EZD2 on this machine, but I have a lot of EZX's.
My "plan":
Install EZD2, update, patch as required.
Install EZX's from disc (I think most are on a big boxed set I have).
Patch EZX's with the EZD2 updates.
Sound like a winner?

My only concern is that, IIRC, you will lose the original Pop/Rock kit in EZdrummer1 if you don't install the original EZdrummer and then upgrade it.

Give yourself a 1/2 evening too  ;-D   Actually it wasn't that bad...but compared to loading all my Sonar and other softsynths, plugs, etc...  Toontrack topped the list of "gotchas" and "headscratchers" when starting from scratch.

I installed to the StudioCat from the big "box" set, and it was a bit time consuming.
Its been a while though.
Getting the data path right (you don't want all that content on the "C" drive),
and IIRC setting an EZD folder in "VST Plugins" pretty much has kept things organized.
(I put EZD, Superior and EZKeys in the EZD sub folder)
If you move the TT dll's AFTER install, Toon gets confused when doing updates.
I didn't have any issues when I moved the samples to SSD, just renamed the old drive,
and set the SSD as the correct path, piece of cake;-}
