Hi,
Enjoyed that listen a lot. It's nice to see something more individualistic, than simple mainstream copykat stuff!
I was thinking during the playing that this had very strong feels of both Jimi and Stevie ... and we hope for a lot more, because that one piece was very nice.
Glad you enjoyed it. Agree about the Jimi/Stevie influence as well as White Stripes/Jack White. Minimalistic live - bass, drums and guitar. He did 1 song solo - him on kick drum and guitar up front. Then he went to the drum kit and played both drums and guitar. A lot of his early festival gigs were just him, his guitar and his kick drum.
I've said all along that the only way to make a mark in this business is to do something different, daring and off on its own trip and there is no doubt in that one piece of the qualilty of all three of those.
I think that the influence of Jimi/Stevie/Jack are a bit in the background, as it has more of the grunge explosions, which is nice within its proper context, but very boring when it was done by too many other bands that were all show and not enough go.
I really hope this guy takes off. We need more off the charts stuff that can't be pigeonholed in the hit charts. I, myself, am quite tired and bored with Balky Sabbath and it's over all, over rated material, though one has to appreciate the early work of theirs and it's place in rock history. But for me, it was better media exposure and advertising than it was that great. There were far more bands out there that did "heavy" far better all over Europe and also in the US, that never got the attention and appreciation that they should have, if BS had not taken so much of it.
