  • I'm not pointing fingers at Toontrack at this point... but it seems odd

I installed the Superior 2.4 patch last night and it wiped out my EZD2.  On the toontrack forums, someone else commented on my thread that the same thing happened to them.

Tonight...I proceed to update all the Toontrack expansion, etc  (Again!  )...  but...my new computer wouldn't boot.  Finally, it gave me the option to "refresh or reformat"... so "refresh" it was to save a couple of files.
Well of course ALL my programs were eliminated..  So...I began the road of re-installing them all...with updates.

I got X3e back, but my dual monitors weren't happening..  I did a Windows update...and they BOTH finally clicked in....but as I'm typing now... Windows says it can't update my computer now... which has been giving me their little circling logo for over an hour.

No loss, as all backed up....but it's just loading all the programs and updates all again.  But first, it seems Windows 8.1 needs sorting out first.

I don't think Toontrack's file could do this...but from last night bad...to worse today.

No real problems here updating both machines to SD2.4 after EZD2 was upgraded and updated.

No problems at all with the 2.4 upgrade but when I opened my projects after the drumkit updates, all my custom tweaks to those kits were gone! I may use a huge kit but I don't need all those cymbals and maybe just 2 toms. I set those things I don't need to none. That way it takes less time for the kit to load for live use.
I didn't stop to think about the possibility that updating the kit would wipe out all those little tweaks.
At any rate, I had no problem even close to resembling that but I don't have EZD2 either.

Sidroe,

Did you mean tweaks inside SD or tweaks in SONAR that got wiped out?

Just the tweaks to the drum kits in SD 2.4. I have some custom kits that load but for individual projects I have some drum pieces or cymbals that I set as none. That keeps the kit piece from loading. For instance, I use Latin Percussion EZD library. I may only need the congas. I click on the drop down for each kit piece I don't need. Select none. That turns that kit piece off. So when the LP loads it will only load the congas. I do the same thing with my drum kits. The Allaire Kit has 8 or 9 cymbals. I set the ones I don't need for none. Thus, every time that project loads, it will only load the kit pieces I set.
It keeps my load times down to hardly anything. I do perform live sometimes and since the economy tanked I have had to go solo instead of with a group. Superior could take an awful long time to load in a live situation. I found by cutting back on the drum pieces that take so much time to load, by just setting the pieces I need to load can save me a lot of time.
The problem was with the updated kits. Sonar did not remember the custom settings for SD2 because the kits were updated. Now, I'm having to go back and reset all my kits. Needless to say, it's not an issue with the studio work. I need that quicker load time for live applications.
