I have to admit that besides my non-expressive voice (frequently called 'nasally'), I think I just care less about writing GOOD lyrics and care more about really doing nice arrangements and producing tracks well!!

I personally wouldn't give up just because he's a better singer or "one hit wonder" than you.......there's always someone out there that's better. What you can do is keep practicing to give yourself a chance to improve.......where YOU can be happier with your performance. The voice is probably the easiest "instrument" to practice on as you can do that anywhere, and the more you practice, the better you'll get. You're probably not at the point where you'd like to be, but that can change easily.....with a little bit of work/effort put into to it.
 
BTW, I don't sing (in public).......but if I did, I better damn well sing in key!!

Why give up singing? You can do that as well if you want. If I had a voice that could get anywhere close to 'in key' I'd use it.

I'm thinking that you're casting pearls before swine, and they wouldn't know what is right or wrong anyway, and you need to stp doing material that is crap, and stick to things that mean something to you!
 
You can't "quit" on yourself!
 
You just have to find your own moment in time, so you know what to do and how to do it.
