Actually...Just a little while ago I came across a post to one of the forums that attempts to seriously address the matter of actually making money doing this...But for the life of me I can't remember what forum, subject or poster.

Then obviously you are not yet making money doing this (yet)?

A quick look at what's popular (and making money) seems to tell me those two goals are not necessarily related! 

For the entire seven years that I have been a forum member I have hung out in the "technical" board, the one that is currently called "SONAR X Series." This is the first time I have been here, and let me say that you guys have made my day. I thought something was wrong with me because I am not making money in the music/recording business. I know there  is a lot of sarcasm in your answers to the OP, but still, thanks for showing some humor and reminding me there is more to life than getting rich. (Lucky for me!)

Down here, posts are the currency and Bapu is our wealthiest resident. 

I make a little off my music on Tunecore...mostly tunes on iTunes.....not much though, hardly pays the hosting costs, maybe a few bucks once in a great while....I used to record other people at my house, but that was always more trouble than it was worth, so I don't bother anymore. They'd come over and eat my food, drink my beer, steal my girlfriends, and want free studio time.... who needs it ?? ....so it's more of a hobby for me than anything else...I really need to get motivated and do some new recordings of my music....

Make money!!! Ha ha ha...
 
I have not made a penny on this hobby.
 
It sucks up all my available assets, and some that I don't have.
 
But don't tell my wife, I hide it all behind that fiend 'Paypal'.
