Well, after 28 years of being in this house (e.g.- my studio...), I have decided to move and have bought a brand new house!  I can not WAIT to move in!  (Of course I have to sell my old one first.)  Just moving across town, but getting off this mountain and into town will be such a sigh of relief, and the room for the new Studio is amazing!
The thought of packing up 28 years worth of stuff is overwhelming however....

Starting all over again at age 59.  LOL

Best of luck to you and congrats on the new house!

28 years worth of stuff... Man, I can't even imagine! I don't remember staying in the same spot for more than 4 years, most places I didn't last 2 years. Last we moved by plane - that gives you an idea.

In my best Bela Lugosi impersonation - I'm taking vit me only 3, uh, boxes...

A quick tally for me sets me at around 28 in my 61 years.

Butt....... I have more plugins than that, which is nice.

when i moved two years ago, i took the time to get rid of a HUGE amount of stuff.

i gave away furniture, clothes, kitchen equipment, tools, just  a ton of stuff..

and if you do it proper, you can write it all off on next years' taxes.

my motto is, if i haven't used it in the last 12 months, it's gone.

a lot went away.

good luck paring stuff down, i say do it with abandon and extreme prejudice!
:)

Man, I hear that!!!

My wife and I started looking for some land recently. We want something back off the beaten path, about 10 to 40 acres out in the woods. The plan is to get the land, and work on it on weekends and when we get closer to retirement, sell the stuff we have here and build our retirement house on the land and raise chickens, goats, brew beer and whatever other mischievous things  I can find to do in the woods....  (grin...wink)

I had the same thought.... all this crap that would to be packed up and hauled to the new location...... the thought of all that work makes me cringe.

But the thought of staying here isn't very appealing either.....
