Heh, not sure you want to admit you live near Pedro (Moshkae) Kenny!   Interestingly enough, I was probably close enough to give you a lift yesterday, IF MY CAR HADN'T DIED AS WELL!

Ah, life...

The tires on my bicycle don't hold air. Get one of those smart cars but don't park it where they can turn it on its side or upside down. Could get a mo-ped.
oh, well, back to the cave.

it sounds like you need a new set of inner tubes …..and a pump

yes , that may be good suggestion with the smart car idea except for one major flaw

Where's a broke dumb a$$ like me gonna get the money to buy one

I just put $2000+ repairs into my wife's car and just got mine out of the shop with $900 worth of repairs.  they're expensive!

but the saving grace is that we've had our cars paid off for the last 2 years!  no payments.  if you consider that it's a lot cheaper to pay the repair bills!

Sorry about your troubles, tho, Ken!  Good luck to you!

Reece,

I'm glad to hear you got through all that and made it to the other side
this type of thing seems to happen to just about everybody at one time or another...
I guess it's my turn

Bah...  Looks like it's mine is dead again as well.  After having a non-starting issue yesterday (fixed, but unknown cause still), I drove out to my Mom's place (East Gresham area - 20+ miles away) and a few blocks before I get there I start smelling smoke (NOT good!).  As I pull into a parking spot I open the hood and grab a fire extinguisher.  Turns out the motor that operates the radiator fans was burning up and radiator fluid was now pouring onto the ground...  Wonderful.

A friend gave me a ride home, but now I have to deal with that issue tomorrow when I really need to be working to make enough for rent!  This should be interesting.

That's rough Kenny. I'm very lucky that my daughter's boyfriend is an expert engineer/mechanic and saves us a fortune on garage bills. Had a weird 'whoosh..whoosh..' noise coming from the van's engine a while back and my daughter recorded it on her phone to play back to him.

He phoned me later and said 'don't drive it, sounds like the timing belt about to snap'..he was right, it was split about halfway through...maybe 3-4 miles from causing a new engine scenario and much sadness. I've told her to hang on to him...

WOW James, it sure sounds like somebody above was watching over you
I feel pretty lucky that the person that looked at my car was able to tell me exactly what was wrong
if I took it to a shop first I might of had to bend over and grab my ankles ….

Yeah , I think I saw something that Pedro posted where he mentioned that he is in my geographic area ...
well it is certainly interesting to know that a few of us here on The Coffee House could probably someday actually have a cup of coffee together …..
that is if all our cars don't break down on the same day we set to get together

Ya, it is a shame vehicles break down.
Perhaps my next vehicle will be something like this:
(it is cheaper and if I don't have to drive as much):
http://www.saferwholesale.com/Brand-New-600cc-Street-Legal-3-Wheel-Car-p/syn-600cc-street3wheelcar.htm
Just an example and street-legal also, or else something like this:
http://www.saferwholesale.com/700-Watt-Electric-Seg-Scooter-w-Dual-Motors-p/rtg-700watt-seg-scooter.htm

Well, perhaps something like that. (Wonder how insurance is on those)(they even make a truck).
??

It may be cheaper and all of that. ??

Maybe have to be this soon:
http://www.saferwholesale.com/High-Quality-HS-2850-Mid-Power-Chair-p/hs-2850-mid-power-chair.htm

I've  got a monster of a dog , he could stand right next to  Shaquille O ' Neal and look normal sized
I could't imagine trying to drive one of them things with him in there with me ..
he could flip us over if he started wagging his tail while we are sitting there waiting for the light to change
