So far, liking v5 here. I really feel lucky that I received the upgrade free as I purchased May 08, 2013 which does exceed there 1yr free upgrade policy but it was in my account as a free upgrade. Very nice surprise!

Thanks Larry.

I do have 'Stage Version 4'.

The upgrade is $190. That's gonna take some thinking since:

A) I only paid $105 for it initially,
B) I never use the damn thing!

Isn't the upgrade from v4 to v5 only $39? That's what I remember seeing. And if you purchased v4 within the past year, the upgrade to v5 should be free.

$190 would be to go from Stage to Standard or from Standard to Pro.

I really love using Pianoteq.
Funny after clicking the link above the email announcement came through.
Looks like a great update.

I thought it was $39 too at first glance, but you are correct if I bump up to Standard.

It's substantially more.

I have so many f 'n pianos now that the most I'd be willing to part with would be $39.

Even then, I'd really need to convince myself that I'm gonna use it.

Ironically, some of my favorites are the cheaper ones I have.

Don't know why. Maybe more character / less 'sterile'.

I had a chance to spend an hour with V5 Pro today. I use a Kawai VPC1 as the weighted controller and a modified Bluthner instrument in PianoTeq.

I noticed the difference as soon as I started playing as it took on a new resonance and body. They are SO close to the real thing it is getting scary. It is Very responsive with my controller. I have not spent much time tweaking things other than creating the modified Bluthner I use. The ssd space required is crazy small. (MB's vs. GB's)

Besides the improved sound I like the convenience of being able to run it stand alone and have the built-in metronome and midi recorder to capture any spontaneous ideas. Works as a midi player also. It supports all 3 pedals.

I thought V4.5 was cool as it was Very responsive but did not have that body/string resonance (kinda muffled) I really wanted to hear so I would mix in a little sampled piano with it but this required me to turn everything on and run it in a DAW.

So far I am really liking it and am looking forward to spending more time just playing around tweaking some things as time permits. Even if it would have cost me for the upgrade I would have gladly paid it. YMMV.

Kind regards,
Rick
