I did 3 simple instrument tracks and MIDI in all 3 tracks and CPU 1 didn't even budge....

And you're on an i7....I'd say something else is the culprit....

Did you use EZD2 and AD2?

Yes ....2 instances of EZ2 and 1 of AD2.....all playing simultaneously....

I'm using the new ad2, and getting x3 crashes- used to be once in a blue moon, today, 3 in about a half hour while previewing ad2 beats with a running project.  just came out, a hindrance, is all...I reckon they'll get it fixed.

A couple of my live performance tracks have two instance of Superior in them. One for a kit and one for Latin Percussion. Whenever I do that added with about 5 other tracks with vsti plugins it pushes my RAM meter in Sonar to about 3 gigs. I usually run at 256. My little Focusrite interface will let me get it down as far as 177 samples before the laptop starts sweating. Although, if I use less hungry versions of plugs I can get it down to 128. If I use just the Tts-1 for a quick scratchpad type project I have gotten down to 64 very comfortably. My point being if your OS is already using it's minimum amount of RAM what's left is not very much.

Yeah, I think that's the deal. I have a request for a quote on ram from ADK. I think I need 16 to run 3 drum samplers at once without freezing. Not that I need to do that very often. I was testing the new EZD2 and AD2, so I had two instances of EZD2 and one of AD2.

A few days ago I had a project running fine until I tried using Zeta 2 on a track. The dropouts and clicks attacked me. I pulled Zeta out and tried Rapture in the track. It got worse. Even when I deleted the track, it still was dropping out. I finally had to just close Sonar and start again. I never had such problems before with those two synths. I'll think twice next time.
