No doubt Craig will be restored once they realise what's happened.
I knew the 'spam' disappeared after three flags, but does anyone know if this leads to an
automatically triggered ban, or whether there still has to be a moderator who manually pulls the plug on the offender?
If it's automated in some way, then it can lead, as I'm guessing must be the case here, to abuse. As James mentions, it's most likely spammers' revenge after they spotted Craig's worthwhile crusade.
This is again mere conjecture, but however much automation is involved in this process, then I'd suggest it's gone a tad too far if guys like Craig can end up banned. I think I'd prefer the old approach whereas no posts are zapped and nobody is banned. Posts could still be flagged as spam but that would only trigger a notification to our hosts; it obviously means more work for the moderators, and the 'real' spam might linger a little longer, but it would prevent abuse of the system.
Back shortly, I'm off to..... um ............er ............ *read* some of Daveny5's posts
