Good thing I have a dual boot win7/win8 system. The changes to the inf don't work on my x64 install. The new win8 hyper-v is nice, akthough I'm not too sure how Sonar works in a virtual machine ;-)

So, any news on a W8 driver yet? 

My install stops at the "Ready to Install Driver" screen. It looks like the driver installs but the installer just stops at that point with no option to continue ("Back" and "Next" are grayed out). Again, the drivers seem to install automatically just like in Win 7 but the installer and or OS don't seem to make the hand-off. 

I am running the driver installation in W8 under compatibility mode because it wouldn't run otherwise (unsupported operating system message). I had the drivers installed prior to upgrading my machine but the drivers weren't found after updating the OS so I uninstalled and then attempted to re-install, for the record. No dice. 

I wonder if I shut off some sort of MS filtering option if it would work...

Thanks for posting this but viewing the link you provide to other forum doesn't work so great. I have to register to view the post and their admins have to OK the registration before viewing the post. I've applied for registration but joining a V-Guitar forum for one bit of info seems like a hassle to all involved.

I made the updates you outline here but it did not change anything in the installation. Maybe post the .inf if you get a chance?

Anyway, not trying to be disrespectful or anything and really appreciate you taking the time to put this stuff up here. Anything beyond what you've already provided is just gravy. Thanks again!

Sonar v-Studio not working with Sonar on Windows 8 is disappointing with not even a beta driver available on the site.
 
I tried installing the Win 7 driver using compatibility mode, that did not work either.

Ditto - waiting to upgrade for the news that Roland has released drivers for my V-Studio 100.  Hoping to hear something official soon.

That suggests they will have the drivers up soon.
Maybe others can also contact their Roland reps, to make sure they get our sense of urgency.

Finally got it working!

I kept getting the error that the OS was not compatible even though I edited the inf properly.

Used the compatibility trouble shooter (right click on setup.exe for the option)

Selected that it worked before using Windows 7, and it guided me through uninstalling the driver and rebooted to complete the uninstall.

I rebooted again to select not using signed drivers, and then was able to install the modified driver.

Working great so far.
