Rumored to be in relation to Malcolm Young's health...hope he's OK but it doesn't sound too good...

Watt are you talking about?  That would be revolting!  Don't they just need to get more amps?

40 years is pretty darn good going for a band. Good on 'em. A lot of bands of that vintage have maybe one (or no) original members and are peddling the revival circuit.

Longevity (30+ years?) with most of the original members:

Tangerine Dream
Rush
Def Leppard
Pink Floyd(?)

I'm sure I missed some - might be a good thread to start (after watching the eclipse anyway).

U2
The Stones.

Don't think Floyd count, their last album was 20 years ago.

There are a lot of guys out there that should have the good sense to retire but just keep going from inertia. And probably the need to support ex-wives.

Last night I was watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concert in Madison Square Garden. It was Metallica, phoning in a tight but by-rote performance. Not geezers yet, but getting there.

But Metallica also backed up Lou Reed, Ozzie Osbourn and Ray Davies - all of whom I was acutely embarrassed for. Each walked on stage with the vacant eyes and stooped posture of overmedicated retirement home residents who'd be tuckered out by a game of bocce.

As a geezer myself, I understand the reluctance to retire. But jeez, let the fans remember you at your zenith. Get together with your buddies and jam after a day at the golf course, but don't embarrass yourself in a large venue with camera close-ups.

Hi,

I'm thinking Strummy is going to have a heart attack hearing that!

Well whatever the outcome of this split, I have made my mind up. I will be siding with AC.

Malcolm had a stroke a while ago. He tried to play when they met up to record the new album. He just can't play now. Damn sad if you ask me.
