You're back in Blighty then Glyn?
Yes - for a couple of weeks.
The Gig was excellent and I got the lowdown on how they came to be playing at such an obscure and apparently financially unviable venue. It was the 60th Birthday party of a long-time fan who runs their merchandise stall at gigs and he booked the band and put tickets on sale to the public for a mere 10 quid. I am guessing but there were about 200 in the audience.
The current live line up - Andy Davis ( Guitar/Vocals/Ukulele /Keyboards), James Warren ( Bass Guitar/Vocals),Clare Lindley( Violin/Guitar/Vocals/Ukulele),Eddie John (Drums/Ukulele/Glockenspiel) and Glenn Tommey ( Keyboards/Vocals/Trombone/Flute)
The support was DLM Andy Davis (Guitar/Vocals), Clare Lindley( Violin/ Vocals) and Brian Mullan (Cello) DLM were very good and certainly more than “Stackridge LE”
As for the Stackridge set “God Speed the Plough” was powerful and showed off the talent of the band. Clair Lindley’s effected violin solo on the heavy “Cold Tea” stood out for me. And we heard “The Road to Venezuela” with the non PC version of the lyrics.
A great evening all round.
