That's a good price for some good headphones. Bitflipper turned me on to them a couple of years ago.

At this price, even someone who already owns a pair should
buy these as a backup...these are great cans....

The consensus seems to be the 50's sound great.
What's the rejection like.
I'm looking for a good set of cans to track vocals and acoustic guitar.

These are closed back headphones and are excellent for tracking vocals and acoustics...

They are considered a "Studio Standard" and get 4 to 5 stars at every retailer...and are
used in Recording schools all over the world as well.  Are they the greatest?  No, but
even at the regular price of $159.99 (retail $199.99) these are excellent cans for the money
IMO....

Here is a chart with the Isolation in upper right corner...

Tom, the ATH-M50's do sound good although they are a little bass-hyped. However, I don't think they are the best choice for tracking cans. Isolation isn't particularly great, and that hyped low end isn't going to help you nail your vocal pitch.

The similarly-inexpensive Sennheiser HD280Pro does a much better job for tracking, offering superior isolation and a weak bass response that eliminates the need to roll off the bottom in your cue mix.

Hmmmmm I track with my 50's all the time. Even at pretty high levels I'd say the isolation is pretty darn good.

YMMV

Same here.  Those dern cans are aces.  We also own a couple pairs of the HD280Pros.  Very good too...but not even a close second to the ATs.  YMMV.

I don't have the 50s, but I've got a pair of the ATH 40s and they work very well for me.
