For those who are unfamiliar Sound City was a poophole studio in California...

Where MANY big bands recorded and got their breaks.  Fleetwood Mac among them.
(Buckingham - Nicks)

The appeal was a custom built Neve Console that cost $76,000...in the early 70's...
The owner put it in perspective by stating he only paid $36,000 for his house in Malibu,
and that if his wife knew he bought the console she would have killed him.  It was a unique
piece of equipment with a VERY unique sound.  It was made especially for Sound City.

Due to the advent of Digital, Sound City sadly went out of  business.
Dave Grohl, of Nirvana fame, bought the console when the Studio closed,
and put it in his recording studio "Studio 606".  That is were this was recorded,

Watched that a while ago - very interesting. Not a massive fan of Nirvana/FF, but DG seems to be a very cool guy.

you'll love it Ol Pal...it was quite the history lesson...and quite the music lesson also!

@musicman....yes sir...I want to know how much Dave paid for it.  That's a REAL piece of
history, so he definitely made a good investment.

reading between the lines about the last days of the place and what happened, I am sure he didnt Craigslist the estate for the purchase and ,though getting it for a deal, still was fair , in reverence to the institution...

but then again I may be wrong
