Ok, so you guys that have both, which would it be, if for now you could only upgrade one? I may have to wait 3-4 months to do the other. Tomorrow, I am going to pull the trigger on one of these drum upgrades.

I only have AD that came with X3. And I haven't used it much if at all.

But I have used EZD. And EZD2 is something I would want to have, just for it's help in song writing. It's not prefect, but it's the best thing to come along to help- a song writer out for sure. The ability to add/take away from a midi clip is fantastic. You can now build your own kit out of the kit pieces in EZD2 and any EZX you have.

I could go on and on, but it's up to you. I will end saying I highly recommend EZD2.

I don't own EZD (Superior 2.0 owner), but I just upgraded AD. I'd say that EZD looks like a bigger update. AD2 is nice with the new browser and the upgraded/polished kits, but not essential!

MS...I have both....to me, AD2 sounds better then EZ2...

Advantages to EZ2 are that you  have the "Tap to Find" which makes it quick and easy to find a beat to match the material you are working with.  It also has the "Song Creator" which will make recommendations on parts for Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc...based on your input.

In AD 2 you can use more kit pieces, the sound is greatly improved, and the kits are now all separate.
Mostly an interface and sound update.  I'm quite pleased with the update.

BOTH offer something new and useful.  So it's really a matter of what you want to accomplish.

I just posted this in the other thread...it's AD2's equivalent of "Tap to Find", it's called "Grid Search"

I just found another gem in AD2....

Grid Search...it allows you to find the beat you want easily, just by putting the beat you want/hear into a grid and it will find the related beats...not as simple as tap to find, but just as useful...

It's at the top left on the "Beats" Page...in the red oval....

So that knocks another tick off the list for AD2....

As Larry says, to each his own. I say if you have more paks in either version 1 of the two products then get version 2 of that one. If its a first time buy then you are going to have to decide on your own. I'm no expert but I generally have found what I need in EZD but have got some good stuff fron AD as well, just not as much.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd still pick EZD2.  For me, it's about getting the midi drum performance done quickly and EZD2 comes in first in that regard.  AD2 has more internal sound modification features but once I get to that stage, I will either switch to multi-out mode in EZD2 and process in my host program or switch to Superior Drummer.

As for sound, with it's libraries recorded by world class producers and engineers in various recording studios worldwide, EZD2 wins that contest, as well for me.

I've got to agree with Bapu. Which one have you got the biggest investment in? You really can't go wrong here. As a guitar player songwriter, EZD2 is perfect for me. It really helps to save time getting the midi arranged. After that's done I have all kinds of options. AD2 sounds great and is well worth the investment, but knowing what you do...I would suggest EZD2 even though it has some bugs. I'm just going to use the simple instrument option until they get the multi output bug fixed. It's really not a big deal anyway with the improved mixer. I can't engineer drums to sound better than what Toontrack has done. If I want a less processed and more natural kit...well that's when AD2 comes in.

Great answers guys.

The only expansion pak that I have in AD1 is the Indie Kit.  I don't have any of the expansions for EZD1, so I guess I am kind of starting out from square one with both companies.  I also have Steven Slate Drums.  I am thinking that EZD2 might be the best way for me to go, for the ease of song writing and building the initial song midi for drums.  I am assuming that if I wanted too, I could pull that midi info, afterwords, int0 AD1 or Slate and use either of those 2 drum processors to change up my drum samples.

I hope to upgrade to AD2 later in the year.  Most of you really seem to like the Rock expansion track for EZD2, as well.
