Great answers guys.

The only expansion pak that I have in AD1 is the Indie Kit.  I don't have any of the expansions for EZD1, so I guess I am kind of starting out from square one with both companies.  I also have Steven Slate Drums.  I am thinking that EZD2 might be the best way for me to go, for the ease of song writing and building the initial song midi for drums.  I am assuming that if I wanted too, I could pull that midi info, afterwords, int0 AD1 or Slate and use either of those 2 drum processors to change up my drum samples.

I hope to upgrade to AD2 later in the year.  Most of you really seem to like the Rock expansion track for EZD2, as well.

Remember also...you will get (I think) 5 kits with EZD2 called modern and vintage. You would get 4 with the AD2 upgrade. I believe you would be very happy with EZD2 for now, and yes, you can then use that midi with any of your other drum samplers. I have a EZ drummer map I found and installed in AD just for that purpose, but the general midi map may do the same thing. Some of the other guys may be able to tell you more.

I have Superior Drummer 2, AD1, and BFD Eco. I have to say for my uses Superior gets used 99% of the time. I use AD1 in live performance situations because it loads lightning fast but I miss the polished sound of Superior. BFD Eco has a great sound but has not impressed me enough to bump up to BFD 3. I used to use Battery 3 with a lot of custom librarys but Superior Drummer won me over.

...is seriously getting long in the tooth! I suspect Superior 3.0 is following soon after EZD2. If Toontrack wants to compete with BFD3 n'all...

I read somewhere, where someone mentioned that it might not be in Toontrack's best interest to immediately follow up EZD2 with a new release of Superior.  Might act like putting the brakes on the sales of EZD2, especially if Superior gets as good an overhaul (that EZD2 did) with a 3.0 version.  But maybe early 2015 or next fall at the earliest might be OK with the bean counters.

I am pretty sure Chris Whitten, who played on the classic Ezx, mentioned on gearslutz that SD3 is not being worked on at all right now.

Am I alone who can't get drum tracks created using Toontrack grooves to work nicely with other software even after re-mapping? The velocities are almost always an issue. Strangely enough though, EZ will play other's grooves just fine.

For me that's a pain in the neck - I love to write using EZ but in spite of all the EZX I own, most of the time I prefer other options sound-wise.
