I am pretty sure Chris Whitten, who played on the classic Ezx, mentioned on gearslutz that SD3 is not being worked on at all right now.

I find that hard to believe and If it's true and they haven't even started on Superior 3 then that would make it a good 3 years away at least?

I'm basing that on the fact that BFD3 was 4 or 5 years in development and another year beta testing before release.

Even though I like to play around with all of the products, bfd 3 is my go to. I'm not sure why I don't stop buying everything else!

the sound is greatly improved,

How so?  Can you expound?

EDIT: Misread that...my own post about AD2...

With AD2 I had to download all new samples when installing it, which is what leads me to believe that the the samples
have been "redone" and, in the case of AD2, they DO sound like it...but the ones in EZ2 are the same samples that were used by EZ1....

Still really don't understand why toontrack would just let superior drummer go to seed which is kind of what they're doing if that info is all true

I don't have superior but have most of the others and like you, BFD3 is my go to as was BFD2 and I don't see that ever changing.

I would have been interested to see what Superior drummer 3 might have brought to the table but it looks like I'll be an old man should that day ever arrive.

I have to say though, I'm quite intrigued by EZdrummer 2's tap to find and may at some point upgrade but I have always preferred to create my own drums for two reasons, one is a principle thing and the other is that it just takes too long to find anything that comes close to what I'm looking for anyway so it just seems quicker to create my own as I usually know what's required.
This new tap to find might go some way eliminating that problem so that just leaves me to wrestle with my principles

Steve, that was my biggest hold up creating a song, finding the right groove.

I started out on principle too in the beginning. I didn't want anyone to think that my music was "computer generated." So when people asked how I did it, I explained to them how I enter each and every beat. And they say,"On a computer?" I answer yes. "Oh, computer music," they'd say!! I gave up.

I now tell them I have a drummer on the internet that sends me the beats!! And they say "Kool!" And to a certain point it's true. But I find to get it right I still have to enter a lot of fills, space, and extra beats to make it truly fit.

EZD2 has made this easier.

And Larry, I installed AD on my home computer just to see and play around with it. I gotta say I like the UI. It also has a lot of control. And even on those speakers I have on that PC, AD sounded pretty damn good!

Might have to see about getting the old music maker hooked up to the net long enough to install it.

I suppose for me, it is a budget issue at the moment. I am thinking I can do the AD2 bump, currently. When that changes I'll get the EZD2. It has features I think I would really enjoy, like I did with Groove Agent 2. I might even upgrade BFD3! But I would really rather get used to/good at one drum program!
I appreciate all your comments, issues, pluses and minuses. It reminds me to slow down and choose well.

I will second the request to have someone explain how they create beats in EZ2 then use that in AD.  If I use the GM map, it not only messes with the velocities, but kit pieces are wrong as well (HH becomes ride, toms are off).  CAn anyone explain how this is best accomplished?  Thanks.

On the old xln forum (which seems to be gone) they had an EZ drummer map. I have it and it works great. I have to go out for awhile but when I get back I'll try to find it, and post it some how.

You would have to remap AD to the EZ map using the "Map Window"

EZ2 lacks this feature...so, in AD2, here, you would create a "Map" for EZ2 and save it.
Then, after you have composed the song in EZ2 you would replace with AD2 and set AD2
to the EZ2 map and WAH LAH!

AD2 doesn't have that map though...you have to install it. Right? I did.
