Here's what the end of the room looked like.  My friends called it the bridge of the Starship Enterprise (the drums you can just see on the left at the bottom).

Pretty tight area when there were five of us!  (Drummer, keyboards sometimes, two guitars and a bass.)

I can imagine!

Is that Sonar 1? It is, isn't it?

It's SONAR, but I don't remember if it was 1 or 2...  I know it's not 3 because that came out in February of 2004 and I had already moved from this place in September of 2003...  Lots of good memories from that time though!

Console view says Sonar 1, IIRC.

Though I'm not that sure thinking back whether the new mixer was introduced in version 2 or 3.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer was the very first concert ever I went to and I saw that monster set up on stage as Keith would 'plug & play'.

And I remember wanting one of those back then in 1976!

I saw them at Empire Pool. Wembley in 1974. Pertty much the height of their popularity, they played 7 consecutive nights in a venue, the size of which Carl Palmer is reputed to have compared to the size of Keith's ego.
It was quite a show, I recall Keith firing rockets off the end of a ribbon controller and Carl's revolving drum kit.

At that time I had access to a EMS Synthi A at college and my friend was building a synth from plans in "Practical Electronics" magazine but Moog was what we coveted. An evening visit to Dartington Arts college gave me a chance to see a big modular close up and I even a chance to turn a few knobs. The lecturer had locked the keyboard away, much to the frustration of some of the students, as he was of the opinion synths should not be controlled from keyboards. IIRC, he had been in someway associated with Tangerene Dream.

I went to watch a band that a few friends were in back in L.A. (June 2003).  One of our other friends showed up to watch (a big Line 6 advocate and, eventually, employee) and he came with a surprise.  "Hey Craig, I want you to meet someone, the Father of Synths, Bob Moog!"  I just about fell off my stool.  I'm very glad I got a chance to meet him before he passed less than two years later...

I got to meet him at NAMM.  It was probably 2003 or 2004.  He was very nice.  I wish I had a photo of that moment.

I like their Jupiter 8V a lot, with the issue that you can not play it live and add the funky stuff to it, because it requires that you take your hands off the keyboard (got 9 knobs and the 9 sliders connected to the first 18 things from the left on the Arturia software screen!) ... thus you can not access all the far out effects and sequencer to have even more fun and such.

You have to create patches, and then reload them, and before you play them open up the sequencer/effects section, and now you can add all the fun/nasty stuff you want to make the whole piece totally off its rocker!

I have not played around with the Moog'y software but it is likely to be one of my next purchases to work with, and have some fun.

You can test these at the Arturia website easily enough.

Ohh, btw, the YTube stuff on this is totally stupid, and assumes that you are an advanced player and geek! So if you are new to it all ... good luvk!
