Are drummers made in China?
I can only guess what this thread was about, like some other threads.
Just don't read minds.

One must poke fun of drummers carefully, they DO like to beat on things after all.

But surely, drums/percussion aren't just there to keep time?

They can be used as a solo instrument, and as an accompanying instrument - as much a part of a song as any other instrument, or vocal line for that matter.

To me, the question behind the OP is comparable to one having listened to a symphony and asking 'What's the point of the cellos'. It doesn't make any sense. The way I see it, if you write a song, you have a pretty simple choice - drums or no drums. End of story. Get over it.

It's a complete subjective non-argument, and for so lucidly pointing it out, I should hereby receive not only a 'Helpful' jobbie, I believe I am entitled to a 'Best Answer' and a free wowwipop.

All of which reminds me of a recent conversation I had...

SidStrummerUK: Hey fatty, did you enjoy your holiday to Jamaica?

Straummy: Yes thank you. And I bought you a present back!

SidStrummerUK: A present!

Straummy: Oh yes - I brought you back some authentic Caribbean drums.

SidStrummerUK: Steel?

Straummy: No you cheeky fecker, I paid for them.
