Too bad you don't have a fancy-schmancy USA made one-of-a-kind shirt to wear.

You'd steal the show.

I have never forgiven Status Quo for their version of Rockin All Over the World - a true aberration if ever there was one !

Cheers,

That's the same setlist that they played last night mate!

Mind you, I reckon they've missed a trick to be honest. Aside from the running order, it's exactly the same songs they played on last year's tour, and hence appear on the BACK-2-SQ-1 live release. This duplication is bound to limit the appeal of the inevitable live DVD/CD packages they release later on in the year.

I can think of a few classics I'd have liked to have seen included, the trouble is, the material they played was so good, it would be difficult to choose what to drop. Maybe there's a case to be made for:
  • Roll Over Lay Down
  • Break The Rules
  • Don't Waste My Time
  • Mystery Song
  • Paper Plane
I had a good laugh afterward though James, Sid told me that in a break between songs about half way through the set, the bloke stood behind him turned to his mate and bemoaned, "Aren't they going to play anything after 1976 then?"  Er...... duh!!

Mind you, you get the feeling that they were so comfortable playing together, they could have played anything from that period if they'd been taking requests. I'm guessing that most of the rehearsal time they put in was needed just to finalise the arrangements more than anything else.

Francis produced the usual complement of mistakes in his lead work, which is kind of cute in a way. LOL - if he can't get 'em all right after all these years, a few rehearsal sessions isn't going make a blind bit of difference! And as I've been telling Sid all these years, when I play the er...... *occasional* bum note, I'm actually faithfully replicating Mr Rossi's performances. Far from my sloppy playing, it shows how accurately I cover their songs

One thing's for sure, I don't think I would go and see the 'current' Quo again. I may be wrong, but I'd wager most Quo fans would be more than happy if the Frantic Four stayed together permanently. I'm guessing with Lancaster's influence in the songwriting process, they might even be capable of writing new material of the standard they produced last night, instead of the more poppy and schmaltzy output they've been guilty of releasing since he originally quit.

These are the legends who livened up the recording session for Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas" with a large bag of cocaine. Apparently. According to Wikipedia.

I remember reading an interview with Francis Rossi years ago in which he said that his son's shredding skills had inspired him to start learning scales and technique afresh and that his guitar playing had improved as a result. Didn't both his sons form a band or something?

Obviously they were dreaming of a white Christmas.
