Contrary to popular opinion, banjo players and accordionists are percussion instruments, when handled correctly. They're similar to bagpipers in that respect. 
 
Does that mean they are good in hand-to-hand combat???

Bagpipers are frequently played with a heavy mallet to produce low pitched muffled thudding sounds as well as comical random noises that sound like, "Ach No!" or "Whit ye daein ya dobber?"

Very true!  Though they do tend to have slightly different tones when being pushed down stairs.
