This lead is far more what I'm talking about.  Way more feel than that other sample.  I keep finding videos with him using an Ibanez, but he didn't have one in '84.  B.C. Rich maybe?  I know he sometimes used a custom made by our drummer, Mike Grove (and so did I - a black flying V - but only on stage).  I only got to play a few times with that band because Craig left to start Guiffria which he called more like a Journey/Toto type band (let's just say we were more than a little confused - lol!).

I would have given my right arm to play with Craig Goldy back then! My only claim to metal fame was that I was "head hunted" into a thrash band by two of the guys from Blitzkrieg (who wrote the song that was covered by Metallica). I was only 15 at the time and was happily shredding away upstairs in my bedroom one afternoon when in between licks I heard someone banging on the door. There were two of them (think they were brothers) and one of them said he liked my playing and was I interested in joining the band of a friend of his. I said sure, and they drove me down to the practice rooms. I can't for the life of me remember what they were called (Robbie? Steven?) but I remember the singer of the band I was in telling me later that they were in the band that wrote Blitzkrieg, which I thought was really cool.

Wow he sounds a lot more polished in that video. I think a lot of the shredders from back in the day have turned into excellent guitarists over time.

Excessive Force, a KMFDM side project?

Also according to Google, that was in 1993 which is a good decade after the original was released. I think that's a different band entirely.

If anyone's pre-ordered the album from Amazon, check your account or email and you should be able to play and/or download the "AutoRip" mp3 version now.

This dropped into my Inbox earlier:

The mp3 versions are all encoded between about 270kpbs and 290kbps so they are pretty decent quality. For some reason, I'd always thought Amazon mp3s were encoded at much lower quality?

Anyway, I've just had a listen through, and I have to say this is a truly wonderful album - quite obviously a fitting and heartfelt tribute to Ronnie from everyone involved. Now I can't wait for the CD to arrive

Stunning.
