They are small and fit into my "studio". But do you guys have any technique for putting them up. I was thinking of hanging the bass traps from the roof list or something so they are not into the wall but an inch or two out? The dampers should also be that way. But I can’t attach them to the roof. Have to be attached to the wall. Any suggestions?

I have not had the money or proper space for this type of thing but there are tons of vids on youtube showing this and I think recently one of the Bakers posted a video of how he treated his room (although I think he mostly focused on hand building the traps himself instead of placement).
 
If you are worried about simple attachment though (like to the walls and ceilings) I think I would try using screw in eyelets (screws with a loop head) and steel wire.
 
However a lot of the Coffee House guys have done this stuff. Maybe they'll pop by.
 
Are you going to buy ARC software too (to get your monitors outputting the best/flattest signal for your room)? Supposedly that can help big time. $300 though but sounds like it is totally worth it.

you bought bass traps and don't even know how to attach them..
makes me wonder...
do you even need them?

I think I know the specific issue he is trying to resolve (Jarsve and I have been working together). Bass traps were likely recommended based on some pro suggestions based on his mixes (which are great but it has been mentioned he may be over compensating due to excessive bass reflections in his environment). He's likely trying to figure out how to attach them without anchoring them in a way that transmits vibrations to the studs/joists (and thus potentially creating a bigger problem) and/or not screw up his place (lots of landlords get pissy about putting holes in stuff).
 
I can concoct all sorts of schemes to do this but it would all be guesswork based on assumptions from my days as a contractor. Not as a proper room treatment dude.

putting them up in the wrong places, makes them somewhat worthless.
 

Seems to me like this is more about fastening than placement. Like how to hang a "cloud" without attaching to the ceiling.
 
I am conjuring up all sorts of schemes already but I don't have a view of the space or the materials.
 
THe gist for the cloud would be wire extending from the upper wall to support the far end of the cloud then a little lower another wire setup to hold up the near section of the cloud. Then some dowel or thin strips of wood to prop it away from the wall to create the actual "cloud" effect with minimal sound transferance to the wall. The trap should absorb most of that anyway but still. The less direct contact the better... logically.

Thanks guys. I will watch those sites later today. Yes this in not about placement. But of how to make them sit on the wall without being sued by the landlord. And of course making it the right way.
