Morgan is an acquaintance of mine and a good guy. I was a beta tester for his Reality Bass product (buy it so you can see my name in the credits and say "hey, I know that guy!").

According to his blog, it appears the decision to release Lethality for free was just made in the past week. Apparently, he'd made it free and then subsequently changed his mind, but in the meantime somebody had already spotted the blog post and told the world, so he made it free again. Better grab it before he changes his mind again!

You gotta get up pretty early to beat Larry to the punch.

I heard back from Morgan. He said he just wasn't satisfied with the product and decided to start over from scratch with a new instrument, building on the lessons learned from Lethality. Something every programmer would do if they could. The new one will be planned for Mac-compatibility from the start rather than as an afterthought as it typically is for plugin developers.

At the moment he's putting all his energy into enhancing the bass instrument. A major feature is the pattern player, and the vision is for user-created patterns that can be dragged into a MIDI track in the DAW. Not an easy task. But it's one of the main features that differentiates Reality Bass from its competitors. At present, it's limited to the built-in patterns that come with the instrument.
