So, here's a coupla goodies...

1. Tonight I'm mixing a track. As part of the prep-process I start UN-assigning the inputs from the 700R thinking happily to myself that it's great they fixed the 700C so you can now select 'NONE' from the surface....ahh, at last.
So anyway, I get to about the 6th track and whaddya know, Sonar locks up! Are you serious...?
Error log tells me Sonar has stopped communicating with Windows. Awesome news... so I switched it all off and walked away for the night. Poop.

2. Last night I'm happily mixing and happened to press ACT to see if it was worth the effort of using the surface to drive a plug in. The answer was no coz it sure does take some navigating sometimes if you don't customise it and as an added bonus, the EQ control of the channel was subsequently lost. Thank you so much, not sure why Sonar thought I needed this un-feature.

3. On an unrelated to the 700 range issues, I've noticed that 64 bit plug ins can add a bit of audible glitchiness...what a bonus this one is. I thought this was a thing of the past but it sure likes to revisit it seems. Loverly...

Summary.... I'm sincerely stunned to be thinking that I'm missing the stability and reliability of the 8.5 days... whattha...?

The next thing is obviously to uninstall and reinstall everything and wonder at the same time if I'm just putting up with the pain nowadays coz we all know what a major PITA this process is, plus it is not a quick process.

Thanks for listening, it's taken me a while to come back to Sonar world and it's started off bumpy... <insert sad face>...slighty disappointed maybe and looks like a massive reinstall is pending and if it doesn't resolve this stuff, it must sadly be time to consider options? Don't like that thought but the desire for a proper integration that doesn't interrupt workflow is overpowering now. Without tight and reliable surface integration, I will be reluctantly jumping off the good ship Sonar. What are other peoples thoughts on this?

Just wanna make tunes.....

Cheers all... and hope your experience is a lot better.

So does anyone else see the issue where you select a channel and adjust Pro Channel eq setting on the 700C but get no real adjustments etc when you adjust knobs on the 700C? The 700C adjusts it's displayed number(s) for the parameter being adjusted no problem but it does not interface with the software? Cheers.

Hi Mully,

Yeah been there and also experienced the blank display on the console while switching through prochannels bus/tracks.  I've rebooted Sonar, I/o and console and they came back.  Can't reproduce it yet but it's surely a constant behaviour.

Don't konw what to say now...

Hey thanks Dyo for the input... gotta say this stuff is making me consider which way to jump for the future. Right now I'm hopeful they will not leave the VS behind but if they do, I'm thinking about what will be the next best hardware/software option. Fingers crossed eh? Cheers!

Hu Mully, if it's the same bug I've seen, then it *does* interface with the software, but it's changing the settings of a different track. Which is a nightmare for obvious reasons.

If seen this bug too, I think. Always blamed myself though. Is it reported yet?

Reported 2 times from me, annoying responsiveness and problems with prochannel tracking the right channel or bus. Is it me or the lag trouble is new with x1d? Is it a new feature? Ok not funny...

I notice lag when switching from Tracks to Buses and vice versa since the latest update. I got used to it, but I think they can do better. And I want to FINALLY be able to use Instrument Tracks properly.

Thanks for the input guys.... gotta admit some frustration about having the dedicated surface that simply isn't that dedicated anymore. What are you all you fellow V-Studio users thinking? Hoping they sort things out or looking at other options? Cheers.

mmmm... can't say I did not looked at other offering... I've looked at SSL matrix and nucleus and it is pricey with no or very limited audio interface. So incredibly pricey option.

So far, the only thing I've found interesting beside Yamaha 02r and Tascam DM line is the Allen&Heath GS-R24M. The moving faders are a must, some basic transport, the pres and the eqs look top notch and the prochannel could always been took care of by a midi keyboard controller, or the unholy mouse. I'm not shure I would like to mess with the recall aspect of a analog console though... not after having used the vs system.

Honnestly, I've lost any hope of any update and even if Roland come with a dream product I'll be very reluctant to jump in, seeing what they've done with the vs-700 and even with the Fantom G.

Brandon and Seth hardly use it in their webinar, imagine when there's no camera so they don't have to "show"it.  That says a lot.

On the roland clan forum concernig the almighty G, users are asking for some software update since forever that will obviously never come...  Roland seem to let their flagships sink completely after two years, with one or two updates max. The Jupiter 80 must be close to it's end now, already one update out.

So, whatever they do, it better be perfect upon release or you'll have to deal with it the way it is.

Not sure I like this. My wallet don't for sure.

Too bad I still can't hate the vs, I could get rid of it otherwise;)
