I strongly considering installing Win 7 32 bit and Sonar PE 32 bit just so,I can have full functionability of the Fantom VS Editor. The synth is working in 64 bit Sonar via bitbridge and there are work arounds for everything but X-ray. I'm still trying to understand how to use the top control strips file-save menu and populate the patch box and drop down menu. Save instrument wants to go to Documents, with an Effects program (.fxp) file. Load instrument access's documents also. Has anyone done this with the 64 bit version running?

I discovered a another glitch the other day. I opened an old 32 bit project in 64 bit Sonar. It had two instances of the Vintage channel in it. When I opened the Plugin editor, it had the same blue strip across the top line of controls where the patch window and save button etc. usually are. The patchs were saved in the drop down box this time and the effect was operating via bitbridge and listed as the 64 bit version. X-ray worked with it also. None of the other VC 64 plugins had the blue strip and incomplete controls.
I checked the Vintage Channels in my Fantom VS project and they were blue striped also.
So I'm wondering if opening a 32 bit project somehow corrupted the 64 bit files.
Looking for a fix.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and the VS700. Just received my new system this week and trying to get it setup. I guess these have been sitting on shelves for some time as the setup disk only has Windows XP and Vista drivers... I found the Windows 7 driver online and installed it without problem so I'm looking for other updates to get my system up-to-date. I found a firmware update, version 1.31, on Roland's support page but they say - "Be sure that VS-700C driver is installed to Windows PC or Mac beforehand and that it has been properly configured as a stand-alone device (without the VS-700R connected)". What does that mean??? When I disconnect the 700R, the driver settings won't even display. Thanks.

In order to install the firmware update to the console, you first need to install the stand alone drivers for using the Console as a seperate device via USB. There are instructions about how to this. It's really not that bad, just make sure you follow the instructions. There are several to do with the V700R as well.
Anytime you disconnect the V700R or leave it off, you won't see the driver settings because Windows doesn't see them. That's normal. You don't need to see them for the updates anyway.

So It seems the blue strip I've been referring to is the bit-bridge server it seems. I looked at the copy of X1 64 bit I put on my internet computer to study and The Vintage Channnel operates via bit-bridge on that copy also. Everything works with the Fantom VS in 64 bit Sonar except the save and patch dropdown list. Now you have to save an instrument you've made to a folder as a .fxp file. Slightly different path, pretty much the same. Xray doesn't  either. You have to click on the Sonar icon in the tray to get sound after you have minimized and reopened the Fantom Editor. I really miss Xray.
I've got really long **** report about what I think should function with the Fantom VS, Sonar (any bit) and V700C. I'm seeing a lack of ACT support and usage to program new routines for new plugins-pro channel modules. We should be able to ACT learn any module that hasn't been added as a routine yet. When that module is selected as topmost window- most recent selection- the ACT routine we made should work. If we had that ability, we could save and send those ACT routines to Cake or each other.
That's how it should work and that is the intention of the ACT controller function, so why hasn't anyone done this?

I put in Sonar X1 PE and Expanded today, and the Prochannel pack. I got one bad message during the whole install. After installing X1c I installed Expanded. when I tried to open it I got a pop up saying X1 wasn't installed properly, to re-install with my original CD. I put the X1D update patch for expanded in and everything worked. I really love the Concrete Limiter.

So far the VS 700 is working great with X1d Expanded.

It does, yes. X2 unfortunately broke a few things, but these are apparently being addressed in the upcoming patch.

I was entirely happy with how it worked in X1. I know some people object to the LCD display lag that appeared in some situations, but that wasn't a big deal to me. When it's all working right, it's really a great console.

I kept 8.5.3 on my DAW, in case I needed it's flow. I somehow see 8.5.3 in some of the screen sets in X1 Expanded. You can make that config. in X1. What's different is just the GUI. When it comes to habit and response and learning the moves in a different way, it's very much like learning an instrument. I guess I'm gonna have to install X2 and see what the bind is.
Does anybody on the forum really know what it takes to rewrite the routines needed to make everything work between software and hardware? Everyone seems to think there is a universal language that defines the workings of our DAW.
Well, unfortunately dialect exists there also.
