so i recenlty lost sound forge on my pc..  i used to use for editing a long track n splitting it into seperate tracks for a cd.
is there anyway to do this in sonarx3.??

Check and see if your computer came with any CD-burning software pre-installed, like Roxio. Most such applications have the ability to write audio CDs and let you insert your own indexes. If you don't have anything like that, you may be able to one pick up at your local office supply store. I used Nero for a long time to do that, and it's cheaper than CD Architect.

This is a very good free one!

At the end of the Craig Anderton Sonar Advanced vids (forget which one) he shows how to do this in Sonar (X1 but it will be the same). He even shows how the do crossfades into other tracks.
 
However there are much better/easier programs to do this in. I used to use an old version of Wavelab on my old DAW. I bought Pyro to kind of do it on my new DAW (but it doesn't do Red Book supposedly). There is a video on youtube showing how to use Reaper to do all this stuff (so you could just download the full demo and follow the vid) and it will provide proper results but again it's not the easiest/best way to go about it.

Sonar - Best way, You can export a section of a project by using markers and highlighting the timeline.

IMO it's better to use separate burning software that does DVDs (single/double sided) and CDs and what else there is, and includes all the mentioned features.
CD may well be a slowly dying media, and implementing a full scale burning software in SONAR might be too big a task if it gets next to obsolete in five years, and if people will need another software for making DVDs anyway.
 

I agree about Goldwave - an excellent (very cheap) editor with loads of functions well executed, and (mostly) a good user interface. Some critics knock the UI for being dated, but its functional and efficient. Good developer who seems to keep developing the program.
