  • Toontrack giving me bad computer ID # [SOLVED]

In trying to install/authorize my EasyDrummer on my new machine, it says my [generated] computer ID, when I ran EZD for the first time, was invalid and to contact support...which I did of course.

Oddly, my Superior installed fairly easy, but I noticed I got the SAME computer ID# for EZD, as I did for Superior.  I notice the expansion packs all have different numbers as well when authorizing.

BTW, the only way I could launch EZD, since it wouldn't show up in the Sonar VST scan, was to go to the .exe file in Toontrack for the Toontrack Solo.  Launching my shortcut didn't work either, but had to click on the .exe file.  The same for Superior for the first time.  That took a little bit to discover, but did eventually.

Maybe guru Mod will have a suggestion, as I wait for Toontrack support to respond.  Hopefully I can "slide in" before they are *really* swamped!!

It appears I have to install the 32 bit versions first...then upgrade to 64, so I'll give that a whirl.

That should do it.

that was the trick.  I initially installed just the 64 bit versions...worked with Superior, but not with EZD.  Had to do the same with Toontrack Solo (uninstall and re-install 32bit....authorize EZD on the 32 bit Solo...THEN upgrade Solo and EZD to 64 bit).

phew... my studio's clean though...sitting watching progress bars, etc.

One thing is I ended up putting all my MIDI libraries in the EZD folder...Superior and extra expansion packs.. as I couldn't see how to direct the EZD to look at the MIDI anywhere else,....or figure out how to move the MIDI, iow.  No biggie...as it's all working and tidy.  Samples all on the sample drive too.  Goofed that up first time I installed EZD back in the days.  You can move Superior stuff around, but not EZD.

btw... for anyone else...unless it's just peculiar with me.  I HAD to start EZD and Superior with Toontrack solo.  I couldn't get Sonar to "see" it first time usage.  ONLY after it was authorized to run on my machine, then Sonar promptly picked it up in the VST rescan.  PLUS, I had to open Solo with the .exe file...not my desk top shortcut.  Kinda stumbling around, feeling that stuff out.  My head's all bruised from hitting the walls!!  ...not head banging...but stumbling!!
