like this is a question anyone can answer... but I'll ask anyway!

So I'm down to only a couple of days left to take advantage of the anniversary sale. I'd buy the whole lot if I could, they are some really well done plug-ins! But like some others, well, that would be too great a stretch...

So, if you could only buy one Fabfilter plug-in during this sale which one would you buy? OK, that's just too lame even for me...

I've narrowed my choice down to Volcano and Timeless. I had hoped that Timeless could do most of what Volcano does if I disable the delay lines, but alas, they did save some tricks just for Volcano. Oh well.

I did spend quite a bit of time with most of the processors (while I can always use another synth I decided against a synth at this time.) And I have to say, their compressor and multi-band compressor are very impressive. But I can get the same results with other compressors - they aren't as easy to use as the FF plugs, but I can get the job done, so for now I scratched those off the list.

The equalizer, gate, limiter and de-esser are equally easy to use, but again I have tools that I use for those tasks. What I can never seem to get enough of are the effects. Which leaves me to choosing between Timeless and Volcano.

So... anyone that has them care to share their thoughts?

Thanks!

Timeless.

But when I bought mine I got a bundle that included Volcano...is that not offered anymore?

+1 for Timeless. It is a very deep effect.

Bill, I'll throw out a wacky idea from left field...maybe you've already got all the plugins you need? Heresy, I know.

But I will second everybody's opinion on Timeless. Tons o' fun, that one.

Thanks all for confirming my instincts. I really love them both, and while some of the PSP delays can do some of the things that Timeless does, none of them are as easy to use, and that does count for something.

Volcano is amazing, but when I stop to think about it I use filters as an effect less than I use delays... so I think Volcano will have to wait.

They don't seem to have a bundle that includes only Timeless and Volcano - I might have stretched for that.

And Bit - yeah, I have reached the point where I find it very difficult to justify another plugin... it isn't so much that these things do anything completely new, but they do present the controls in a very user friendly manner, which neither Nitro nor 608 do<G>!

I can even see me replacing my Waves compressors with FF, just not today!

Thanks again for making this a bit easier!!

Anyone here use Volcano's little brothers - Simplon or MIcro? I had a lot of fun with Simplon, not as much fun as Volcano, but it might help me ease into the FabFilter way of thinking... and I think I can make that stretch. Thoughts?

I use Micro all the time as a simple hi pass filter on tracks.

Pro-C or Q is what I would suggest, but you had it narrowed down to the two. You can't really go wrong with FF. They are in my opinion...special.
