You could prop him up in the front seat, stick a can of lager in his hand and I'm sure the border guards wouldn't notice anything wrong.

I've been imagining getting stopped by the Geordie cops near Hexham..

''Why aye bonny lad, where are you going? Let's have a little look in the back if you divn't mind like. Why, who's this, slidin' aboot in the cardboard box??''

Had a chat with a funeral director this morning, and decided against it, not least because of the (apparently) huge amount of paperwork involved, including getting permission from the coroner to move a body from Scotland into England, and getting insurance cover.

Edith was fine about it, she fully realized we were half-joking about it a year ago, and has a back-up plan. I hope it goes well.

They require insurance coverage?? For what?

I'm a gardener. My van insurance doesn't cover 'cadavers' in the items I'm allowed to carry.

I understand it's a 'cadaver', but what harm can it cause to transport it? I suppose I'm just puzzled at what they're actually trying to cover here.....
Good to see that Edith was understanding, and I'm sure you must be much relieved. :)

I would try to resist thinking about Weekend at Bernies. I would also insist on driving at normal speeds. Everybody can keep up.

Au contraire, you could have propped him up, put a pair of sunglasses on him and introduced him as Bernie.  Assuming (from the tone and context of your statement) that a Geordie cop is the European equivalent to Buford T. Justice or Sheriff J.W. Pepper, the pop cultural reference would be lost on him/her.

It seems as if James may have avoided jail time. It would be difficult to describe "me shrivled up window dummy" Since he works in landscaping they might suspect he buried others things in his travels. The catapult is starting to look better all the time.

From now on, when I open a bag of Scotts, I'm going to double check what's inside.
