I don't understand.

I read many posts upstairs about issues with old projects.
The way I think of projects is that there are only a few types;
One that I finished and I don't like.
One that I didn't finish because I didn't like it.
One that I'm working on.
One that I finished and liked, mixed down.

Out of those there is only one that matters to me- the one I'm working on.

I realize that somebody recording others have different issue/reasons but
as a solo type I can't think of one reason for me to be concerned about anything that's done. It's done.
If it wasn't done then big deal. I did it so I can start over and do it again fresh if the idea was worth the effort.

Maybe somebody can tell me what I'm missing so I don't just think those folks gears are slippin'....they sound like
somebody complaining just to complain.

Hey Spacey,
For myself, I may finish a song and put it away for months or years.  I might buy a new instrument or learn something that makes me want to tackle the song again.  For me, I never know when I am totally done with a song so I hope I can still work on the older ones when I want.

I am getting in the habit to transform all my midi tracks to audio so I dont' run into the issue of a plug being out of date.

So I can see why for some this might be an important issue.

1.Adding an instrument to a song that one is not sure is done.

That is a good reason.

I haven't had a project that was held because I wasn't sure if it was done but I can sure
understand how someone may.

Now a new instrument....my wife wanted a mandolin so I bought her one. She got it and
ask me to record a song with it. So I spent a couple of weeks learning how the thing worked
and did BUT....if I had gotten me a new instrument I would have done the same thing...because
it would inspire me to write and I don't have unfinished projects.

Thanks Rimshot.

I have unfinished things, but I do not fret or worry if they do not get finished or not. Sometimes, that one piece over there ends up inside somewhere else with a few different letters and words on it.

No big deal, but that is life for a writer, and someone that thinks they can script it all ahead of time and then follow it, I say they are a journalist, not a writer! Lacking soul, emotion and content!
