Paulo,

Got this message from Bub. I'm passing it on as public service. I take no stand one way or the other.

Your IP address isn't the only thing they keep on record when you log in, they also keep your network card's MAC address. They blocked the network card on every device I had logged in to the forum with which included my cell, laptop, and DAW and that prevented me from even reading the forums on any network. At the time I had no idea I was banned, nobody told me and I just thought their web site had gone down. They have since changed there policy and no longer block people from viewing the forum in that situation.

Thanks to Steve for letting me know about this thread. I knew nothing about it prior to his email. I greatly appreciate Bapu taking the effort to start it and all the folks that have responded. If it results in a change of status for my account I'll be forever grateful.

Creating an alternate login isn't something I would ever consider doing. The way I see it is, if you've been banned from a product forum like this one it basically means they don't want you as a customer anymore. It needs to be resolved or you should move on. I tried several times but my emails were ignored so my wallet and I moved on. We'd be happy to come back if they'd like to reactivate my forum account.

Thanks for the support.

The parts I put in bold are fabrications. These type of accusations towards Cakewalk are just one of the reasons he's banned and no longer welcome on our forum. If we had the technology he's fantasizing about us leveraging against him, spam attacks would disappear overnight. I've also seen extensive, post ban, e-mail logs between Shane and a Cakewalk employee. Responses from our end only stopped after he refused to accept the reality of the situation. There has never been an orchestrated agenda against him due to software issues he was experiencing, like the one he is trying to portray through proxy.

For the Record:
Shane had a few chances and used them up. On more than a handful of occasions, when moderators had to put out a fire on the forum, he was intimately involved. This resulted in a temporary ban. After allowing him back, he was reported for soliciting multiple new users towards a competitors product via PM. We investigated that situation and then acted accordingly to the forum TOS. Shane has a permanent ban. That type of behavior will simply not be tolerated and is not welcome on our forum. Shane's messages relayed through 3rd parties are also not welcome on our forum.

Since there was some sympathy and support in this thread for his return, I performed some due diligence and checked out his postings on our competitors forums. There's nothing there that lends me to believe he's learned his lesson or can participate here in a civil manner. He's still perpetuating his wildly inaccurate theories about the inner workings of Cakewalk.
