So wait.. you can like some products but not others but that is not OK??
Is this the IK forum??? ewe get banded?
Sure maybe he was a little heavy handed in his comments, but they allow sock puppets and shills from other products to post..
How many of the " I am leaving this pile of crap product" have you read or will continue to read? The Pro tools is sew much better, blash blah
Bub allowed himself to be pulled in by the baiters, who in MY OPINION should also have been terminated ...
Musicman I was concerned that I would be misunderstood on this. I don't think there is anything wrong with comparing product A to product B. And even if someone prefers product A and is telling someone about that on a forum supported by product B, this happens all the time and is a way to learn about products in the area we work in. This is usually subjective and not across the board for everyone or else we wouldn't have product B at all. I have several DAW programs. One of them is supposed to be pretty good. When I first tried it out I didn't like it but they have improved it and I have to say now it's a darned good software program. At least two or three others here use the same program and it is more of a staple in their studio than Sonar. I still always reach for X3 whenever I'm doing most of my work, even though I recently upgraded to their flagship program. For me , I have a feel for X3 that allows me to work better than any other way. Some of that is probably because I started out on Cakewalk software and i know the short cuts and keystrokes. To each his own.
I think a line is crossed sometimes though when person expresses their opinion but won't let it go. In my mind this becomes more about discrediting and bashing than stating an opinion.PT and Logic snobs have come over here and tried to pick a fight, probably paid shills trying to network their products.
In Bubs case I seen someone who was very unhappy with the product. He wasn't alone in that feeling. I think he really felt like he had bought into a mistake and his frustration would boil over at times. Many others have been frustrated with certain things about Sonar , especially when it was upgraded from 8.5 to X1. There were some issues. There will always be some issues no matter what. Different people deal with things in different ways. If my frustration level got to the point that I wanted to wring someones neck over an issue I would simply go to a product that I thought I could use. Life is too short to have a hernia over it. I think software companies like Cakewalk will always have issues as will Cubase and Logic and on it goes. If the ideal is perfect, then the ideal is unattainable for everyone at all times. Still someone will pay good money for a program and then try it and something won't work quite right and they will go ballistic. I don't think this will ever change.
One thing that has changed is that many customers who were discontent have had their issues worked out just fine and went on to make music. You don't read about it because not many of them return to thank Cakewalk publicly on the forum. It's usually only the discontent people we read about.
Bub dropped me a line yesterday and he wanted to clarify some things about what I had said. He had been a Cakewalk customer for at least 15 years prior to X1 coming out. He has tried the X3 demo and he really likes it. Many of the issues that were happening for him went away with X3. He is a little bitter about being banned. I don't blame him really. No one in his shoes would have felt much different. I know the mods do what they feel they need to do. I'm in the middle here and I don't really blame anyone. I had thought the ban was about a particularly negative conversation regarding X1 and what it wasn't doing for him. Now I'm starting to remember....he mentioned something about bicycles and I think I remember that thread now. I think things had simmered and been dealt with by the time I could look at the outcome of that thread. Usually there is more than one involved and sometimes I think maybe a decision is based on other factors but I'm not venturing a guess on that one. It never ends well.
This is getting to be a long post so I'll try to keep the rest short and to the point. Bub is a great guy. We miss him. I think most of us will agree that he added a lot to the forum. Like myself he has said and done some things that he probably wished he hadn't.He is simply human like the rest of us. I think we all deserve at least a second chance. Petition or no petition I see this as a simple thing....Seth if you get the time after all of that alli baba crap will you allow him to come back? How can he contact you if the answer is yes???
