I hate the Waves wup and cloud, but this is tempting. Reelbus is of course $19.99 and I have Saturn and Magnetic II.

This was tempting to me as well. I remember Bit talking about the wup, but I don't remember exactly what it was. It was enough to scare me off Waves the last time it came up, however.

I love Kramer tape.

As for WUP - see http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3022083 and the subsequent posts I've made in that thread, chronicling my growing dislike of the WUP and eventually, my realization that I will not buy Waves plug-ins again.

A few hours before that I didn't mind the WUP at all.

Yeah, I deleted my waves cloud long ago and don't want to re-install for a tape sim. Plenty of better alternatives out there.

I did the same.  Consequently, things have never run smoother...

It seems really popular to hate Waves these days. I'm pretty happy with mine, and sorry but Kramer Master tape is one of their most lauded plugs. "Plenty of better alternatives out there" seems an exaggeration, especially for 29 bucks.

Yes, Not very many for the $29 range, but most people I've talked to says Reelbus is better. I don't know because I don't have it. I do find waves to be a pain and choose to use other products, but I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I was tempted to re-install it just for this $29 deal actually. I just don't use tape sims much...As I said I have the Pro channel one, Saturn and Magnetic II. Saturn will do just fine for what I do.

I love their plug-ins. It's the $240 a year they're asking to protect my investment that I find a bit too much. I own 3 of their minor bundles and 5 individual plugins. Unlike people who own the Platinum bundle, there's no chance of me seeing my existing collection of Waves plug-ins enhanced with new plug-ins as they are released.

But the plug-ins themselves are great, and Kramer tape is a favorite of mine.

I have Platinum, plus the SSL and a few singles I've collected during sales. I haven't had any issues using Waves stuff, except for the disappearing GUI bug. I really like the quality of the plugins, even though some are starting to show their age.

I have resigned myself to upgrading my Waves bundle whenever I build a new DAW. Otherwise, I stick with the version I have. I mean, the plugins really haven't changed all that much over the years, so I don't see any need to keep them completely current all the time. It would be different if I ran a studio...

Regards,
Dan

So, will the plug ins continue to run without the WUP yearly payment..,just no upgrades?
