2. If someone else quotes them in a thread you see what they said

I've always wondered about this. I've never blocked anyone but it seems like you couldn't escape seeing the quoted messages.

I just manually block people with selective eye movements.

Xactly. I find it hard to believe how uptight people can get about the views of some anonymous internet persona that they don't even have to read or acknowledge.

I blocked myself so that I can disavow any knowledge of any posts I may or may not have made.

You're welcome! The downside is of course that the full version is slightly harder to read on a mobile device, at least it is on my iPhone. But maybe it's OK on iPads.

I don't subscribe to threads...I don't even know how, I'm such a dimwit.

I only block one person and even though I do occasionally see what they've posted either by someone else quoting them or...as is more often the case...because my iPad doesn't block them (if anyone can tell me how fix this I'd be most appreciative) I try to refrain from commenting. Which I've done pretty well at except for one time recently when that posters comments were simply staggeringly, breathtakingly inane. Still, I should've just shoved my hands into my pockets and refused to type. Alas, I am as weak willed as I am dimwitted.

It sounds like you're probably viewing the mobile version of the site on your iPad. It has slightly less functionality than the full desktop version and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't implement your block list. If you want to block people on your iPad then try viewing the full version of the site. Click on the little icon in the top right corner of the screen, then click on the icon that says "full version." If you decide you don't like the full version on your iPad you can change it back by clicking on the "menu" button on the top right of the screen and changing the forum theme back to "mobile."

I just changed my settings from "Full Version" to "Fantasy Version" and now the forum software works perfectly, everyone is polite upstairs, Bub just posted a tune in the very busy Song forum, there's no TOS in "Steve's Humour" forum, the X-Series forum is almost dead since there aren't any bugs and everyone is happy.  Oh yeah, and ST3 is out!
