There were reports of displays in southern England last night,  which is very unusual.
 
I tried to see them, but I live in the midlands and it appears we didn't get it

Thanks Wooks!! I knew there'd be an intelligent answer/reason for this.
 
 
However, I've also seen this very same phenomena after a good bowl of chili......somewhat radioactive too.
