I've been away from recording for about five years.  I'm going to upgrade to Sonar X3 Studio (from Sonar 8.5 Studio) this weekend, and was looking to upgrade some of my "go-to" plugins.  I thought RSO's Vocal Magic was an excellent vocal processor... I was looking for the latest version and can't find any info.  Did they discontinue Vocal Magic?  If so, can anyone recommend a similar product I can use instead?  Thanks!!

Obviously Antares AutoTune...
Nectar Elements

AND...if you want the BEST...

Melodyne Editor....$349....if you buy X3 Producer you get Melodyne Essential
and an upgrade to Editor for $149...well worth it in both cases...IMO...

There is a learning curve..but you won't regret it...l

KVR's plugin database lists it as "no longer available". Looking at its features, it would seem that iZotope Alloy 2 might be a suitable replacement.

cclary - thanks for your advice.  Vocal Magic was more of a reverb/delay processor though... it didn't affect pitch.

bitflipper - I'll check out Alloy 2

Thanks guys!

VX-64 vocal strip is included with Sonar. It has delay, EQ, de-esser, doubler and compressor/expander. Might be worth checking out.

I do all instrumentals so I can't say how good it is.

My bad...had no idea, and just assumed it was an older pitch correction...

However, Nectar and Nectar Elements does have both pitch correction and reverb/processing.

VX-64 Vocal Strip also has Reverb, Delay, De-esser, etc, and is included with X3, as Gyn pointed out,
so that would be the most "economical" solution.

Thanks again.  VX-64 Vocal Strip looks good but I don't think it comes with X3 Studio... that's what I'm planning to upgrade to.  It's only $49... Producer has VX-64 and some other cool features but I'm not sure it's worth the extra hundred dollars (its upgrade price is $149).  Or is it worth it to upgrade to producer??  Thanks!

You decide:

If you don't already have direct/suitable replacements for the 12 items in Pro that are not in Studio then they are def worth more than $100, IMO.

I don't know what version you currently have...

But if you can get Producer, by all means do.  You get Addictive Drums, TH2 Producer, many of the PC Modules,
and all the "bells and whistles....for a few dollars more...well worth it if you can make the stretch...

I currently have Sonar 8.5 Studio.

I was looking at the X3 Pro features... is tape saturation, console emulator and tube emulator as useful as they seem?  If they do what the Cakewalk website says they - along with Vocal Strip - might be worth the extra $100.

I really do appreciate the advice and insight offered here!
