The PC modules alone are worth the extra hundred...Tape Saturator, Console Emulator, and the 
Flyout QuadCurve EQ....just the EQ is worthy...

Then you get ALL the Nomad Factor BlueTubes plugins (even though they are locked to Sonar), TH2 Producer,
Breverb Sonar, Melodyne Essential, and Addictive Drums....Addictive Drums sells for $149 alone when not on sale...
The BlueTubes Bundle is another couple of hundred, TH2, Breverb,..AND the Flyout QuadCurve.

It's a plethora of Plugins, not to mention all the improvements to the program itself like
VST 3 support, ARA Integration, etc...it's a bonanza....if I were going to do ONE upgrade and didn't have this...
THIS WOULD BE IT.

It didn't offer as much to those of us who have been using it since X1, but for anyone else...
THIS IS A STEAL....

Do it...you won't regret it....

Be forewarned...it's very different from 8.5...but well worth learning...

Yes - you get a lot for the extra $100 between Studio and producer, of course its only good value if you are going to use enough of it.
 
Even if you do not use the virtual instruments I think there is still plenty of value in the Producer package.  The extra pro channel modules alone make it worthwhile IMHO.
 
Nomad factory Blue Tubes and Melodyne Essential are included in Studio however, some posts may have implied they are exclusive to Producer.

With the X3 upgrade, I will also get for free the Sonar X3 Explained video by Groove 3.....M.G., not sure if you also got this offer or not....... Either way, the complete package is worth the Producer upgrade.

Thanks again for all of the advice guys!  I did pull the trigger last night and ordered (downloaded) X3 Producer along with the X3 Explained by Groove video.  Not bad for $149 total!  I didn't get a chance to install it yet but I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do!

You fell for peer pressure huh? LOL....I also got it downloaded last evening, but haven't installed yet. I think it's good that you got the Producer (especially coming from 8.5) as you'll have a boatload of new plugins. There might be a bit a learning curve with the X series and that video will definitely come in handy. Congrats!!

Don't forget to update with X3e.

Well... I installed X3 tonight.  It's showing version X3a... can I upgrade straight to X3e, or do I have to ugrade to X3b first, then c, etc?
