So I've had this for awhile and I took advantage of the recent group buy to add to my gear collection but I hadn't spent much time with it until this weekend.

HOLY CRAP.

What an amazing product! I've had Pods in the past and didn't care for them. I'm a "real amp" guy with new and vintage tube amps and effects (love my Echoplex). But Amplitube has made me a believer. To be able to just fire it up, pick a preset that strikes my creativity, and jam/record is very freeing. I've got my amps mic'd up but waiting for tubes to warm up and not being able to EVER dial an exact effects I used on a track was always frustrating. Being able to tweak the re-amping at any time is very cool and creative in its own right, and I assume I can use Melodyne to fix mistakes since I'm recording the raw guitar input (haven't tried yet).

If you are a guitar player and haven't given this a test drive - you really should.

PS: Would love a larger GUI... ;)

I hear ya James....I've also had POD Farm and was overwhelmed with all the great amps/fx/volume of gear in Amplitube. I've even used some the Orange amps (clean) on vocal tracks......which btw sounded really good. I don't think I'll need much in the amp dept. for sometime.

I am using Amplitube with my iPad with good results.  It is very responsive and fun to use.

Pretty incredible isn't it. I too was a tube amp die hard up until last Summer when I bought Orange on sale. Now I own them all. The 50w tube combo doesn't get fired up to record with much any more. The Ampeg bass amps are pretty nice as well, it is slowly replacing my bass amp as well.

Jimmy, iPad version is next on my list. I need a travel companion.

I'm glad to know I'm not crazy! I've been a bit of a tone snob for years. :)

It's too bad they didn't implement some sort of season pass - where you get everything rather than having to wait for sales and buy jam points... I've got <almost> everything, but nothing left that is driving me to buy more (I say that after buying 2 T-Rex pedals yesterday) lol

Does anybody know how to dial in that "Brown Sound" that Van Halen had on their 1st album? or at least something close to it?

Mesh - go out to the IK Preset Exchange - it's a link inside of Amplitube. Do a search - there are some killer patches for this exact tone (and all free).

Thanks James.....I think Grem mentioned about these patches during the GB, and my short term just memory failed me......will be heading on there this evening!!! :)

I wish more patches had user ratings so you can look at the top ones easier - there are lots of patches out there. However, some of the early Van Halen tones have high ratings and you will find those pretty easily. If my memory doesn't fail me I'll try and post a short list of some of the interesting patches I found. :)
