funny nobody uses Cakewalk session drummer 3, least they haven't admitted it.  I have it installed with Sonar but have actually never used it at all.

I imagine X3 users who don't have any third party drums would have ditched SD3 in favour of addictive drums as it's way better.

Addictive is my go to "fast get a beat and good sound" Sampler.  I love it...and cannot for the life of me
figure out how they get it to fit in such a small footprint, but GOOD FOR THEM!

The sounds are extremely usable, tweakable, and worthy.  Not as many velocity layers....but enough to
make it believable.  People complain they sounds "Wet".  If you're not turning off the effects from the
presets then they certainly will...as the effects are on by default in the presets...even still not the
best "dry" sounds...but most certainly usable.

BFD 3 redefines the "sector" for me.  Those drums just sound awesome right out of the gate.

But I love Addictive too.  I also have SSD4...rarely use it.  I have the drums that came with Komplete
for Kontakt, and the Neil Pert Kontakt Library (which are awesome btw).

I'm dumping EZ...I never use it anymore...haven't in quite a while...and don't see me upgrading...
If so, I'll just buy it at a sale and get the same price as those who buy it "out of the gate", and
if there are any bugs they'll be worked out by then...

Session Drummer is just not "There" ....but hey...it's a freebie so that's ok...

Like Strikingly Handsone1 I too use the Steve Slate Production settings for Superior Drummer.
But what I did was keep the EQ and comp settings and throw them all on the Nashville Kit.
Nashville has always been my go to kit and it sounded even better with the SS touches.

All I have to do is swap out the different snares (pitch them too) and an occasional cymbals.

It is in a template and just load it with each new project.

It was a big tweak in the beginning and I haven't touched it in years.

Just like any software you work with what you are used to and gets you to the finished product in your song.

Thats a good tip! I have a couple of the preset packs but mostly have used them as examples to see how certain sounds are created.

60s and 70s rock in slate are my go to sets for "that sound".

I'd rather tweak...and I hear Superior is superior in that regard.  I don't need toms that already have room ambiance already locked in.... or something similar.

SSD room ambiance is not locked in.

While AD is not my FAVORITE drum sampler, I do use it to replace SD2 on stage for lightning fast loading. IMO, it is not as strong as SD2 but close enough that I am quite comfortable using it for live gigging. Cost-wise I think it's a winner for people just starting out that don't have a lot of money. There are a lot of pluses for AD. I still turn back to SD2 for the studio quality work I do. BFD Eco has gotten me quite interested in the BFD line but I am a long time user of SD2.
