This and the 2600 is what I learned on...and I can see why kids nowadays have no idea what a ADSR or VCO means...  But I sold mine to some guy in Belgium for $900 about 10 years ago, when stuff like that was gaining popularity again.  I told him it drifted like a sailboat with no keel, but he paid the $250 in shipping as well.  The HUGE downfall of that synth was no "home base" for tuning to A440.  So using it live was left to the TRUE pros or relegated to goofy sound effects or just studio use.  You could always find a new sound, but whether they related to anything 'normal' to use was another topic.
Back in the day, they were extremely successful, but I can't see that today.  I'd almost rather have the money for some software and a keyboard controller.  Same with this Moog stuff coming out.  VERY nice but for a special breed of keyboard OWNER.

I bought an Axxe in the late 1970s. It was fun, but I never really mastered the thing.

Speaking of hardware synths, my brother the programmer has an older Korg he'd be willing to sell.

Old55 I;ve been to the Arturia web site and I was tempted, but I thought I saw that they use iLok security and I'm not interest in adding any dongles to my DAW if I can help it.  I almost got the G-Force Odyssey software just this week, but I have to upgrade my PC before I start stock-piling software. I already have X3 sitting here waiting for the hardware to get installed on.
...

The dongle on my Jupiter 8 software has not been an issue and I moved things to a different computer, and the information was on the dongle and it adjust great with no issues.

But, yeah, by the time you have 15 dongles, you got a problem!

I'm leaning towards getting X3 in the future here, but have not made the commitment to sit and get back into music again. I'm still gun shy at this point, and burning money needlessly is no fun and for now there is better porn out there (take the word anyway you want it!) that is less of a hassle than some music idiocies, and compatibilities.
