Actually, it just said on the local TV news that the debris was actually 3m/10 feet think in places.

That's still quite a bit!  I'm surprised that there was even some sunlight in the photo.

My thoughts are with the land where my ancestors roamed, hid more than likely... but you'd think they would be used to it by now. FWAW, it has been a weather nightmare almost everywhere this winter. At least places where I know about. I'm sure it has been nice in Hawaii. California almost no snow which will have a big impact on the summer water demands and watering for food crops. The SE USA has been really cold and too much snow, the Midwest has been awful cold. I think Germany has been way more mild than usual. Have you noticed that Sochi has been around 60 degrees, except up in the mountains. Just weird weather patterns and I don't think the surprises are over.
Ya'll hang in there. If it gets too bad we will come rescue you.

It reminds me of the floods the last few years in the New England states where the rivers flooded. I remember seeing it n the news but don't remember if it was New Jersey, but I think so. Did anyone feel the earthquake near Aiken, SC? The strongest in this area since 1950. There is a fault line that runs through here, it is called the Cartersville fault. It runs right below the dam over the Coosawatee river in Calhun, GA just up the road. It is so close to the dam you can get a picture of the fault in the rock of the river bank and the dam. Carters lake is a big and very deep lake. The Cartersville fault also runs really close to Allatoona lake dam on the Etowah river in Cartersville... sometimes I wonder if they thought these things through. I guess earthquakes and weather can be considered in the same category. If either one goes wrong, they can go REALLY wrong. I would not live in the Etowah river valley or in Rome, GA. If wither dam fails, Rome is GONE to Alabama.

I am not physical.. I cannot tell the future but I DO know Murphy's Law. I have seen it in action too many times.
Siriusly though... I hope ye "Chaps" are OK.

HEY... can I axe a question? Steve... why is Thames pronounced Tims? How di that come about. I coud research it but I am sure you no. (OK know... I was just poking fun)... but I am always curious about that. I have other questions about England too...

Heh, just looked up the SC quakes.  3.2???  C'mon!  Some vindaloo expulsions can register more than that.

Here's a few "REAL" quakes I was WAY too close to!

Sylmar - 1971 - 6.6 (visiting an Aunt - felt like a bizarre roller-coaster)

Superstition Hills - 1987 - 6.6 (Staying with a friend after playing in a dart event the prior weekend - had a plaque come off the wall and graze my head before scoring a direct hit on my shoulder)

Landers - 1992 - 7.3 (On vacation near Big Bear - kind of smooth and the entire metal rail along the lodge units went BRANNNNNNNNGGGG!!! and woke everyone up)

Big Bear - 1992 - 6.5 (Same day as Landers so still there - this was, by far, the scariest for me - I was just starting to doze off back to sleep when this one hit with a big thud then kept getting worse and worse. Even my room back in Orange County was trashed when I got home! Everything on two opposing sides of the room had been tossed into the middle of the floor...)

Northridge - 1994 - 6.7 (I was staying at my friend's place on Sepulveda near that famous Galleria for the weekend and was up early so I could drive home when this stupid woven art piece "jumped" off the wall, we stared at it for half-a-second wondering "what the...", then all hell broke loose - I ended up surfing the couch while my friend peed himself in a doorway - half the bulbs in his chandelier broke by swinging into the ceiling - I had to take a very long way home to OC!)

It isn't, it's pronounced 'Temms'...unless you're from Sarth Effrikkah.

Moral of the story - never ever invite craigb to stay in your home.

I understand, but this is South Carolina...not the "Rim of Fire".
